Perennials & Rockery

June 2024 update:  Large variety available in-store that are not on the web shop! Pop in or call if you'd like to enquire about specific perennials you're looking for.

Adding layers of interest and depth to your garden is achieved through careful plant selection and placing of flower beds. The traditional method of planting up a flower bed (and most obvious) is tall plants at the back, medium height plants in the middle and swathes of bright and colourful bedding plants at the front. Many experts use the 'pyramid' formula when creating visual vistas i.e. in a triangular pattern. It is often advised to plant perennials in groups or 3, 5 or 7 to create interest.

Perennials and rockery plants can be carefully blended together throughout a garden bed or, you could create an entirely separate rockery feature, complete with themed statues and ornaments. Our experts are on hand at Windlestone to help you make the right choices!

Please note that the images alongside our perennials are offered only as a guide to the type of flower.  Many perennials are herbaceous (meaning that they appear to die back in autumn/ winter and then shoot up again in spring), so we only add images of our new plants in the nursery during the growing season.
